Congratulations to Hilary Hopfauf who received the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award!
The Melvin Jones is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with purpose of Lionism. We are very proud and honored to have such a devoted Lion in our organization!
The following is an excerpt from the speech by Lion John in presenting Hilary with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.
Hilary came to Glendive in 1980 as the Assistant Principal of Dawson County High School. In 1984 was named as Principal and served in that position until his retirement, as he related it, "to pursue other interests." In this case automobiles. He set up shop a block away from the high school and proceeded from there, selling cars. He has been busy at that ever since.
Hilary has taken an active role in a wide array of Lions projects over the years, including the "Moonlight over Makoshika" gourmet Dinner at the A-Frame in Makoshika State Park. This year, Hilary helped the Lions Club raise the most money in the history of the event.
Thank you Hilary for all your selfless work over the years!
